100% would send a mate. Still recommended in 2025.
A North Laine record shop (entrance now round on a side street off Trafalgar Street) that regularly features on local record-shop crawls alongside Rarekind and Resident. Redditors rate it for second-hand and niche genres, including punk/hardcore finds, and it's also a go-to for cassettes.

Wax Factor and Rarekind are second hand and dance record shops respectively, but I've found some good punk/hardcore records in both. Dunno what you'd consider alternative clothes and jewellery, but the entire of North Laine is probably worth checking out. If you're pretty far left politically then the Cowley Club…

The best I've found for cassettes in general so far are The Wax Factor in the North Laines and Beat The Clock Records near Hove, but for the genres you're after specifically I think you've hit the nail on the head with Godzilla, they have a brilliant range and are great for discovering new stuff. Wax Factor on Trafalgar Street (although the entrance is now on one of the side streets, can't remember which) and the Kemptown Flea Market are also good for a browse. Union Music in Lewes is well worth a trip…
Rare Kind, Wax Factor and Across the Tracks are great for old and niche / interesting records. Resident and Capsule are good for for basic stuff and reissues.
