One Song by Kadir Karababa
A free audio-visual installation at Fabrica made from songs chosen by women with experience of migration, each one taking them back to their first home.
Fabrica’s October exhibition is One Song, an audio-visual installation and community archive by the British-Turkish artist Kadir Karababa. He began the project in 2022, gathering songs and stories from women with personal experience of migration or seeking sanctuary. Each was asked for a song that takes her back to the place she first called home.
This version was made with community groups in Brighton, in partnership with Brighton Early Music Festival. The songs are sung in their original languages, with English subtitles. Karababa’s own family moved from South East Turkey to London.
Entry is free and there’s no need to book. Fabrica is open from 1 to 5pm on Tuesdays and Wednesday to Sunday from noon to 6pm. It’s closed on Mondays.
