Volunteer mornings at Stanmer Wellbeing Gardens

Help the Food Partnership turn unused corners of its site in Stanmer Park into community space, with bramble bashing, coppicing, path-making and planting.

Brighton & Hove Food Partnership runs volunteer mornings every other Wednesday at Stanmer Wellbeing Gardens, its 4.5-acre site in Stanmer Park, which it shares with 13 community groups. This month’s sessions are on 14 and 28 October, from 10am to 1pm.

The work mixes woodland conservation and gardening, turning unused parts of the site into community spaces. Jobs include bramble bashing and weeding, fire tending, coppicing and pruning, making paths and planting hedgerows, herbs and flowers.

Book before you go. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or torn, sturdy boots and long sleeves (there are nettles), and bring gardening gloves if you have them. The group meets at the Gathering Glade; its what3words code is much.splash.change. The sessions aren’t currently suitable for people who can’t take part independently.
