FilmPride screens 10 queer horror shorts at the Actors Theatre on 30 October
Ten short films from the UK, the US and Malta, spanning body horror, witchcraft and a drag queen facing an alien invasion.
FilmPride, the volunteer-run LGBTQIA+ film festival, is showing 10 queer horror short films at the Actors Theatre on Prince’s Street on Friday 30 October. The event, Scream Queens, runs from 7pm to 9pm.
The films come from the UK, the US and Malta. In Sleepeater, directed by Amrita Acharia, a woman and her wife institutionalise her father to claim his house, and guilt keeps them awake. In Papergirl, from Jack Warren in the US, a partygoer finds their skin turning to paper. The Last Story on Earth, by Aaron Immediato, has a drag queen trapped in a library during an alien invasion. The two Maltese films are Son of God, about a priest who steals a painting of Jesus from his church, and Itch, about a novice nun.
The programme also includes The Monster Within Me, Love Spell, Black Hole Barry, The Cost Of Living and The Cruise. All FilmPride films are captioned.
Some people may dress up, but costumes are entirely optional, Brighton and Hove News reported. Tickets are available now.
