Most on-street EV charging in Brighton & Hove gets cheaper from 15 October

More than 500 Blink chargepoints move to Char.gy and Believ next Thursday. Overnight rates drop, and you'll need a new app or a compatible one.

More than 500 of Brighton & Hove’s electric vehicle chargepoints change hands on Thursday 15 October, and most charging on them will get cheaper. Brighton & Hove City Council’s contract with Blink Charging UK has ended, so its standard, fast and rapid chargepoints are moving to two new operators, Char.gy and Believ.

Council serves first legal notices on its eight large panel tower blocks

The notices start a clock of up to seven years before the blocks come down. Nobody has to move now, and secure tenants get help to rehouse.

Brighton & Hove City Council is issuing Initial Demolition Notices this month to secure tenants in its eight large panel system (LPS) tower blocks. The council said the notices are a legal step and don’t mean the buildings will be demolished soon.

The blocks are Falcon Court, Heron Court, Kestrel Court, Kingfisher Court and Swallow Court in north Whitehawk, Dudeney Lodge and Nettleton Court in Hollingdean, and St James’s House in Kemp Town.

The town has been renamed Alderswyck for the eight-episode Apple TV series, which is now in production and set to air in 2027.

Ruth Jones and James Corden are filming their new comedy series, The Choir, in Lewes. Filming began at the start of October and runs through the autumn, BBC Sussex reported. For the show, the town is called Alderswyck.

Filming has been taking place around Cliffe High Street. The crew emptied the Oxfam charity shop and turned it into the Alderswyck post office, then put the stock back a week later. The John Harvey Tavern became Woody’s Pub, and a car park became its beer garden. Filming has also taken place…
