Widely recommended for cheap, authentic Bangladeshi/Bengali food - the £5 lunch deals (daal and veg curry, wraps) and mixed thali get singled out repeatedly, along with huge onion bhajis. It's small and family-run, supports charity projects in India, and reportedly allows BYOB, though a couple of commenters note it isn't always open.

What locals say

Not bang central, but in case other people are looking - Tuntun's (Lewes Road) lunch deal is pretty decent. A simple daal and veg curry with rice for a fiver. Not mindblowing, but £5 for tasty, hot and fresh food is a winner in my book.

…eaten. They do an excellent value lunch deal if you're able to go during the day. If you liked Shandiz reccomend trying Gandom just down the road - another Persian restaurant but food is properly excellent and they bake their own bread. It's not fancy at all but I'm a fan of Tuntuns on Lewes Road for very good Bengali food. Big fan of both Kogi and their new Soju pub next to western Road Waitrose. Really good fried chicken. SHAANXI on Preston St do great hand cut noodles. Also a fan of Beijing house on Queens Rd for their pork dumplings and Chinese…

Pride is always great, but it is significantly more corporate than it used to be, even recently. I'd strongly recommend the following - Drinks/general evening spots: Loading Bar One Under Twisted Lemon Food: Bincho Yakitori Siam Siam Burnt Orange Cin Cin Village (breakfast) Tuntun's (super cheap Bengali food) Abysinnia (super cheap Ethiopian food) Music: Green Door Store Patterns Dust Alphabet Nature: Under cliff walk (starts at Brighton Marina) Seven Sisters (!) Stanmer Park/village Devil's…

Tuntuns Cafe on Lewis Road does amazing authentic Bangladeshi food...get the mixed Thali...thank me later It's not much to look at but it's the best Bangladeshi food you'll eat outside of Bangladesh. It's family owned/operated and they do decent portions for a very reasonable price FYI most British "Indian Food"…
